Willow Tree
This is a mix still in revision. Not finished, not mastered, but the world it creates is already clear.
Laia and Flavia Escarteen are two sisters: half Flemish, half Catalan, born in Mexico and Belgium, making music together since childhood. They reached out after hearing Una Casa, a record I'd produced that found its way to them. I'd already worked with Flavia before, she'd written the music for a circus show, and we spent weeks building sounds around her cello. When the sisters decided to make their third album, they wanted to work together again.
We recorded at Studio Pyramide in Brussels; the viola, the cello, the drums. Then they came to my studio, and we recorded the vocals there. The first time I heard Willow Tree in the room, I knew immediately where it needed to go. Something in it reminded me of Hanne Huckelberg: that quality of sounds that are precise and atmospheric at the same time. The three of us aligned quickly. I captured what was already there, placed it in space, gave movement and depth to each element, and built the atmospheric textures around it. The album comes out in October 2026.
