El Tiempo Que Habito

El Tiempo Que Habito
Mateo Margulis

This is the first production sketch I sent to Mateo after we recorded together. Not mixed, not finished, just the raw shape of it.

Mateo is a singer-songwriter from Buenos Aires working on his first album.

He'd been through two producers before me, and neither felt right: one made it too full, too polished; with the other, the sound just never felt like what he was looking for.

When I was visiting my homeland, we saw each other and shared a few days recording. We set up in his bedroom, stacked pillows around us for acoustics, and worked with what was there: his guitar and his voice. Back in the studio, I recorded the bass, built the rhythm, and worked with the brass, some lines Mateo had already recorded and others I rebuilt in MIDI, shaping and placing it all around his voice.

I brought my ribbon microphones. He sat on his bed. This is what I sent him a few days later.
